Abstract: This collection contains the from the collection in the Brotherton library book of English author, editor, bibliographer, and journalist Wilfred Partington (), who was editor of the Bookman’s Journal and Print Collector from to Includes manuscripts by Partington and other authors, as well as correspondence mainly relating to Partington's work with the Bookman's Journal, his books about Sir Walter.

The collection consists of documents dating from toincluding many imperial and papal letters, acts and other material, compiled at some point in the middle of the sixth century.

Some of the documents are unique, making the work an important scholarly resource. Algernon Charles Swinburne. Algernon Charles Swinburne () was one of the great poets of the Victorian era.

From early on Swinburne delighted in flouting the sensibilities of his day, and at least some of his reputation as a 'decadent' poet is well-founded, given his deep-seated atheism, sadomasochism, and frequent treatment of taboo subjects. It was a landmark in the development of historical lexicography and was an inspiration for later lexicographers, including Sir James Murray, founding editor of the OED.

Susan Rennie's account of Jamieson's work and the methods he developed interweaves biography, lexicography, and linguistic, social, and book history to present a rounded account. ALS, 22 Dec. [], in the Brotherton Library. 33 Unpub.
